Is there a specific genre of music, style of dance or style of monologue that I should focus on?

No, students should choose a song, dance or monologue that shows off their talent the best. There are no restrictions on what kind of piece they can choose.

I play an instrument; can you make an exception and let me audition?

No, unfortunately the program is only offered to Vocal, Dance and Acting participants.

Is this scholarship based on grades and financial needs?

No, this scholarship is based entirely on talent.

If picked as a finalist, do I have to perform the same piece that I used on my recording?

No, you can choose any piece that you would like for the finals as long as it is under 3 minutes in length.

Do I have to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in order to win the $15,000 scholarship?

Yes, the $15,000 scholarship is to be used for higher education purposes. Applicants must mark on the entry form whether they have been accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution. The applicant does not have to attend a 4-year university. They can be accepted into a performing arts academy (AMDA, etc.).  All winners must attend an accredited post-secondary institution within one year of winning the scholarship.

I have friends that are seniors at other high schools in the San Francisco Bay Area; can I tell them about it?

Of course! Please tell as many of your friends about the scholarship (as long as they are a senior in high school and attend a high school within 100 miles of Club Fugazi).
